The East Grand Forks Water and Light is a municipal utility serving the residents of East Grand Forks with electricity and water since 1909. With a staff of 25 hard-working men and women, we are committed to supplying safe, reliable utilities to our residents.

Responsibilities 

• Distributing electricity that is purchased from Western Area Power Administration and Minnesota Municipal Power Association
• Distributing the water to the residents and businesses 
• Maintaining a professional and friendly relationship with our customers
• Maintaining all water and electric distribution lines 
• Producing potable water from the Red Lake River 
• Reading meters and billing out electric and water usage

Congratulations to Gary Hultberg

Gary Hultberg, Water Plant Superintendent is retiring on August 31, 2010 after 32 years with the Water and Light Department.  Gary started with the Department on June 1, 1978 as a Water Plant Operator and has been in the position of Water Plant Superintendent since 1988.

Over his career, Gary has led the effort to modernize the plant process equipment, chemical feed equipment and control systems where needed.  From 1993-1995 he oversaw the construction of a treatment plant expansion and also worked through the flood of 1997 to help keep the Water Treatment Plant safe and dry.  The recovery from the flood of '97 and dealing with the impacts of the flood control project construction are some of his most memorable experiences that Gary has had over his career with the Water and Light Department.

It has been a privilege to work with Gary over the past 32 years and we would like to wish him success and happiness in his future endeavors - may they be all that you hoped for!
