With Bridge Closures Plan Ahead for Possible City Bus Delays

(4/3/20) FLOOD DETOURS:
Please plan ahead for possible delays with the city bus. Routes 3/4 and 3/6 are detoured due to closures of the Sorlie and Point Bridges.

There will be a bus that will travel back and forth between Cabelas and the Transit Center to connect riders to other bus routes located only within the City of Grand Forks, as well as,  allow you to transfer back to an East Grand Forks route.

Minnesota Ave/Point Bridge will be closed at noon on Sat, April 4th

Due to rising flood waters the Minnesota Avenue Bridge also known as the Point Bridge will be closed at noon on Saturday, April 4th.

Reminder to Stay off of Levee System & Out of Closed Greenway System

Residents are being reminded that they need to stay off of the levee system and out of the closed greenway.

Residents are not allowed to walk on the levee system unless it is on a trail leading up and into the greenway.  The greenway is closed due to trails being under water.

The Chamber is holding Virtual Meetings for Local Businesses

Starting today, April 2nd, The Chamber is holding virtual meetings covering a variety of information for businesses during this pandemic. They are using Zoom for these meetings and they are capped at 300 participants.

Campbell Library will closed as of 5pm, Wednesday April 1st

The Campbell Library will be closing as of 5pm today, April 1st. Front door pick up service will be suspended effective 5pm, the book and A/V drop boxes will be closed, and all physical materials will have a new due date of May 1st.

The Campbell Library staff thanks you for your understanding as they comply with the building closure and keep staff at home.

Requesting Input on Parks & Recreation Facility Improvements

The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking input from the community regarding the ice arenas and ball fields through an online survey. The online survey only takes a few minutes to complete and will available until April 6th.

Flood Wall Closures Going Up Along River Road/4th St NW Due to Predicted Rising Waters

Due to rising river levels, uncertain precipitation amounts coming later this week, and with staff currently healthy and able to put flood walls in place while trying to following safety protocols for COVID-19 as much as possible, closures are going up.

The City of East Grand Forks has elected to close the following street sections effective 12:30pm Tuesday, March 31st:

  • River Road/4th ST NW, from 17th ST NW to 5th Avenue NW.
  • 12th ST NW, from 8th Avenue NW to River Road NW.

Change to Local Boards of Appeal & Equalization and Open Book Meetings

Due to recent events, Polk County will follow the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health to limit the spread of COVID-19 and not hold public meetings. This will affect the local board of appeal and equalization and open book meetings.

Cities Area Transit Opertating Fare Free starting March 23rd

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Cities Area Transit (CAT) services (fixed route, Senior Rider, & Paratransit) will be fare free beginning March 23. No fare collection and purchasing will allow CAT staff to more effectively address health recommendations

With no need to sell passes, the Metro Transit Center, located at 450 Kittson Ave Grand Forks, ND 58201, will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23. This includes the Jefferson Lines offices.

Updated Drop Sites - Public School Free Grab & Go Meals Available

The East Grand Forks Public School will be providing free meals to all children who are 18 years and younger while the school is closed. All children will be eligible. Please see the attachment for all the delivery sites where meals can be picked up.

Please call the School at (218) 773-3494 if special accommodations are needed.  Families that lack transportation may request food to be delivered by contacting Debbie Delisle at (218) 773-0476 or by emailing ddelisle@egf.k12.mn.us.

The Senior Center will be closed until further notice. The Meals on Wheels program will continue while the center is closed so those that receive these meals will continue to do so.
